Charles Earl Stoughton, 60, of Slippery Rock passed away Tuesday evening at his home.

Born Sept. 6, 1950, in New Castle, Charles was the son of the late Gaylard E. and Marian I. Holmes Stoughton.

He married the former Beverly Jean Proch on Feb. 7, 1981. She survives.

Charles was a farmer all his life and was never happier than when riding his tractor around the farm.

He also enjoyed baseball, gardening, animals, genealogy research and spending time with his family. He played softball for many years with the Flaherty Field League.

Charles was a graduate of Laurel High School and earned an associate degree in electronics from Allegheny Technical Institute.

Mr. Stoughton was a plant manager at Cooper Brothers Builders' Supply for 18 years, where he oversaw the operation of the sand and gravel plant. He also worked with his good friend, Tom Brown, at Locust Bend Fencing in New Castle and for the Allegheny Valley Schools for five years.

Charles is survived by his wife, Beverly; two daughters, Erin Leona and her husband, John Stanley, of West Mifflin and Colby Lynn and her husband, Derek Neubauer, of Pittsburgh.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

<B>STOUGHTON </B>— The family of Charles Earl Stoughton, who died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the <B>Noga Funeral Home</B>, 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle.
