Rock at Knoch Battle of the Bands will take place from 5:30 to 11 p.m. March 18 at the school on Dinnerbell Road, Saxonburg. Bands must apply by today. There is no entry fee and bands will be given 25 to 30 minutes of playing time. The winner will be determined via a voting ticket system. Call Judy Thompson at 724-352-4385.

<B>Harold Betters Quartet</B> will play from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 17 at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main S., Greensburg. Tickets at the door for nonmembers are $10. On March 18, the group will play from 6 to 8 p.m. at the African Festival at Connellsville Area Senior High School, 201 Falcon Drive, Connellsville. <B>Pittsburgh Symphony Pops</B> and conductor Marvin Hamlisch will be joined by Slippery Rock University students as part of the annual All-Star College Chorus for “Marvin Does Marvin” featuring the award-winning Hamlisch tunes today through Sunday at Heinz Hall, 600 Penn Ave. The concert will include songs from “Ordinary People,” “Ice Castles,” “A Chorus Line,” “Sophie’s Choice,” “Nobody Does it Better” and “The Way We Were.” The show starts at 7:30 p.m. today, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Those with an SRU connection can get discounted tickets, depending on location, for $20, $30 or $40. Student tickets in the gallery are $12. The discount will be honored through group sales only and are available by calling 412-392-4819 in advance.<B>River City Brass Band</B> will roll out the red carpet in concerts themed “That’s Entertainment,” music from both stage and screen, at 8 p.m. today at the Carnegie Music Hall, Oakland; at 8 p.m. Friday at Carson Middle School; at 3 p.m. Sunday at Baldwin High School; and at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Upper St. Clair High School.
