ZELIENOPLE — The Strand Theater Initiative will host screenings of the 1991 Ron Howard film, “Backdraft,” as a fundraiser for the Harmony and Zelienople Volunteer Fire Departments.

The film will start at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Additionally, a benefit spaghetti dinner after the Sunday screening is planned for 6:30 p.m. at Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave.

The Strand will contribute $1 from every ticket Friday to the Harmony fire department and Saturday to the Zelienople fire department. Sunday's receipts will be split between the two, as will the proceeds from the spaghetti dinner.

“Backdraft,” a movie about firefighters, is R-rated.

Cost for the movie is $5 or $4 for senior citizens age 60 and older. Cost for the spaghetti dinner has not been set. Call 724-742-0400 or visit www.thestrandtheater.org.

BUTLER TWP — Sing Hosanna! will present Rodgers & Hammerstein's “The King and I” Friday through Sunday at the Succop Theater at Butler County Community College.Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.Tickets will be available starting Monday at May's Music Shoppe, 247 E. The Underground Gallery at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St., presents “The Pop Art Show” opening Friday and featuring art inspired by popular culture.The exhibit continues through March 25.Area artists displaying their work include Carly George, Allison Zehmisch, Richard Boniker, Aryl Bashline, James Grace and Trevor King, among others.Local bands will be part of the entertainment for the opening Friday.
