Lincoln perfect as Pirates win
DUNEDIN, Fla. — Brad Lincoln pitched three perfect innings and Pedro Alvarez hit a go-ahead triple Thursday to sent the Pittsburgh Pirates over the Toronto Blue Jays 4-1.
Blue Jays starter Brett Cecil struck out six in three shutout innings. He fanned the first four batters he faced.
Alvarez lined a two-run triple in the sixth for a 2-1 lead.
The Blue Jays nicked Charlie Morton for a first-inning run on Rajai Davis’ double and a single by Jose Bautista, who returned to the lineup after sitting out a game with mild tightness in his left quadriceps.
Lincoln took over for Morton to begin the fourth inning.
