FORD CITY — A woman died and a man was seriously injured Thursday night in a house fire here, authorities said.

Firefighters found Jennifer Ellen Torney, 46, dead in a bedroom of her 2Z\x-story, wood-frame home next to the Foodland supermarket.

But firefighters rescued 48-year-old Doug Walbert in the smoke-filled house in the 1500 block of Fifth Avenue.

He was taken to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township before being moved to the West Penn Hospital burn unit in Pittsburgh.

His condition was not known this morning.

Investigators said the fire started in the bedroom where Torney was found. She died of smoke inhalation, Armstrong County Coroner Bob Bower said.

A state police fire marshal has ruled the blaze accidental, Chief Scoot Gaiser of the Ford City Volunteer Fire Department said this morning.

No cause could be determined due to the extent of the damage, he said.

The fire was reported at 8:11 p.m.
