John Kemp

A tribute to John Kemp

April 15, 1927 - January 31, 2011.

A Poem Worth Reading

Author UnknownHe was getting old and paunchy and his hair was falling fast,And he sat around the table, telling stories of the past. But we’ll hear his tales no longer for old John has passed away,And the world’s a little poorer, for a soldier died today. He drove trucks to raise a family,Telling trucking stories all the wayAnd the world won’t note his passingTho a soldier died todayWhen politicians leave this earthTheir bodies lie in stateWhile thousands note their passingAnd proclaim that they were greatAnd when countries are in conflictWe find the soldiers partIs to clean up all the troublesThat the politicians startIf we cannot do him honorWhile he’s here to hear the praiseThen at least let’s give him homageAt the ending of his days.Perhaps just a simple headline in the papers that might sayOur Country is in mourning, for a soldier died today.
