A freelance commercial actor is the latest entrant in the Butler County commissioners race.

Jerry Johnston, 61, of Butler Township today announced his candidacy. He is seeking one of two Democratic nominations in the May 17 primary.

Johnston specializes in voice-over work, doing radio and television commercials as well as industrial and promotional videos.

He formerly worked as the public affairs/advertising manager for North Pittsburgh Systems Inc.
