Brown keys SRU
Maron Brown scored 33 points and added 15 rebounds to lead the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team to an 85-79 victory over host Edinboro University Saturday.
SRU scored 52 points in the second half en route to the win and moved into a tie for second place in the PSAC-West.
Jabril Bailey added 17 points and six rebounds, Devin Taylor 12 points and five rebounds and Tommy Kelly added 10 points for SRU (14-6, 4-2).
Despite 18 points and seven rebounds from Danielle Smith, the SRU squad lost a 77-38 decision to Edinboro University Saturday.The Scots jumped out to a 42-15 first-half lead and held The Rock (2-16, 0-6) to its lowest point total of the season.Emilee Vitez added eight rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals and Shannon Lee had seven assists for Slippery Rock.
Jenn Harpp and Crystal Burnick took home first and second place, respectively, in the women’s 3,000-meter run to lead The Rock at the GaREAT Collegiate Open Saturday in Geneva, Ohio.Harpp was clocked at 10 minutes, 8.62 seconds and Burnick 10:09.22 as both times met the PSAC qualifying standards.
