BUTLER TWP — Police are on the look out for a man who made off with a nearly $29,000 pickup truck during a test drive Tuesday.

District Judge Kevin O’Donnell today issued an arrest warrant for Robert C. Fleming II, 25, of Monaca, Beaver County, on felony counts of the theft and receiving stolen property.

Authorities know who to look for because Fleming let the dealership make a copy of his driver’s license before he took the truck.

And it turned out Fleming is a felon who just three months ago was in jail in connection with two theft-related cases in Armstrong County, according to court records.

Police said Fleming showed up at Lyndora Auto Sales on Hansen Avenue Tuesday morning. He spoke to a salesman and asked to take a vehicle for a test drive.

Fleming had his eye on a pewter-colored, 2005 Chevrolet 2500 HD pickup. The truck sold for $28,900.

Fleming took the truck out, but five hours later, he had not returned. The car lot owner, Ken Galvan, then called police.

The truck, which had the dealer license plate J32154J attached to the back, has a chrome tool box in the bed. It also has a chrome window protector.

Most recently, Fleming served a seven-month sentence in the Armstrong County Jail on charges of receiving stolen property and theft of services in separate cases.

He was released Oct. 1.

His also has convictions of theft, access device fraud, bad checks and receiving stolen property in Beaver County; and bad checks and access device fraud in Butler County.
