BUTLER TWP — Police today are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday night at a convenience store on Route 8 south of Butler.

The knife-wielding robber made off with an undetermined amount of money from the Country Town store about 7:30 p.m.

The bandit, a masked man about 5 feet 9 inches tall, walked into the store at Route 8 and Litman Road and displayed a knife. He wore a jeans-style jacket and possibly a hooded sweat shirt as well as gloves and a camouflage ski mask.

A female clerk was working and there were no customers, said store manager Greg Stutz.

The robber got money from the cash register.

He reportedly drove off in a silver, four-door Oldsmobile Alero that had damage to the driver’s side front grill, and the headlights and marker lights do not illuminate, police said.
