The lonely “Country House” by Ivan Le Lorraine Albright is part of the “Treasures from the Vaults” of the Butler Institute of American Art in Ohio being shown through Feb. 25 at the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts in New Castle.

NEW CASTLE — “Treasures from the Vaults,” a collection of rarely seen works from the Butler Institute of American Art in Ohio, fills the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts' galleries through Feb. 25.

Selected by guest curator, Thomas McNickle, the exhibit represents figurative, portraiture, still life and landscape works spanning the historical, chronological and stylistic movements from Colonialism to Modernism.

Among the 38 pieces selected are paintings and drawings by Edwin Austin Abbey, Ivan Le Lorraine Albright, Ben Kamihira, Henry Keller, Alfred Henry Maurer, Clyde Singer and William Louis Sonntag. This will be the first time many of the works have been exhibited since acquisition.

Also being featured in the upper Ballroom Gallery is “Faces of the World,” a collection of drawings by regional artist and Hoyt instructor Richard DiGia.

A reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 14. Reservations are requested but not required. Refreshments will be served.

The Hoyt is at 124 E. Leasure Ave.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is free.
