Welfare Discussion
Sandy, I don’t think anybody was thinking that you were the cause of divorce. James brought up a fantastic point to which my prior post excluded; career welfare, those who work the ‘system.’
It may simply be an isolated perception, but what I do not see is separate ‘systems’ working independent of and unrelated to each other. Instead, I have arrived to a conclusion of one ‘system’ defunct and corrupt. Yet, within all the analyses to improve the ‘system,’ the system itself remains unexamined. Career welfare is merely one ‘end’ through which a part of the ‘means’ of the system becomes evident, at least it does to me.
Take for instance Joe’s last two sentences in his Dec.18th post. Separate from any relating post, one could attribute such comments to any number of instances. Reduced to its lowest common element, and it’s all political and geopolitical in nature - instituted by wealth and power over time to produce the result of control. Specifically, imo, economic and financial control- and ‘they’ did a heck of a job at it.
Point is, one can suggest ways to amend specific parts of the system, but who is going to fix it? Our signed, sealed, and delivered government? Our newly elected prostitutes? You? Me? Few people I meet, realize how close this country is to economic collapse.
Even if that person is fined for buying cigarettes with food stamps, when that person is jailed for non-payment of fines, or jailed on a felony conviction, you and I will be paying even MORE to house him or her in the county prison, paying for his or hers probation or parole upon release, and once again paying for their assistance benefits. The whole system is defunct and corrupt upon any level.
Back to career welfare: Assistance is sometimes necessary when people suffer a loss of wages through no fault of their own, so the only thing that seems plausible to do is to mandate those with no employment history to establish such and earn a certain amount of income before any assistance can be offered. Instead, our system mandates that addicts and irresponsible women (I’d like to replace ‘women’ with another word, but assuredly I’d be censored by the forum police) be moved to the front of the line. This system makes no sense at all until one realizes that the whole defunct and corrupt ‘system’ is supported the very same way. The only difference is that the financiers are few and mainly foreign and the return on their ‘investment’ is economic control of the United States of America. The whole system is defunct and corrupt.
Sorry for the length.
Merry Christmas, and in the New Year, let’s do something to change this, egh?
