BELLEFONTE — A Penn State fraternity has been found guilty of furnishing alcohol to a freshman who died after falling into a stairwell after a night of drinking last year.

Centre County Judge Thomas King Kistler on Tuesday said Alpha Tau Omega was responsible for supplying alcohol to 18-year-old Joe Dado hours before he died in September 2009.

The judge found the fraternity had furnished the beer to minors by providing open tubs that welcomed guests to consume the beverages but didn't check IDs. Alpha Tau Omega likely faces fines and community service at its Jan. 25 sentencing.

Perry said the $286,651,237 bill was accompanied by letter threatening legal action if she did not submit her payment in the included envelope.Perry's attorney said his client received a bill last year claiming she owed about $4,800. She received further bills with greater or lesser amounts but no reasons given for the changes. Then came the whopping August bill.Capital One told the Philadelphia Daily News that human error sometimes leads to inaccurate billing letters. The company says it is working to resolve the issue.

PITTSBURGH — A mall guard is charged with attacking a shopper on Black Friday because he said he was cold and tired of directing mall traffic.Twenty-five-year-old Gregory Lattera, of Pittsburgh, had a preliminary hearing Wednesday on charges including simple assault and false imprisonment. Authorities said he hit the back window of a car driving in the Ross Park Mall parking lot and then attacked the driver and told him he was under arrest for assaulting a police officer.Lattera originally told police that the car hit him first. Police said he later changed his story and said the car didn’t hit him and instead he was cold and tired from directing traffic.
