Butler high schoolers are busy preparing to present their holiday shows. Three groups have upcoming performances.

The Butler Senior High School music department will present a choir and orchestra concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to benefit the Butler Health Systems Caring Angels charity.The concert at the Butler Senior High School auditorium is free, but donations will be accepted.The event will run for a little over an hour, and open with a high school orchestra performance.Afterward, the school's choirs will perform holiday carols and Antonio Vivaldi's “Gloria.” A professional chamber orchestra will accompany the combined choirs on “Gloria.”

The members of the Butler Intermediate High School choirs will present a Holiday Concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.Performing groups will include the Mixed Chorus, the Girls Chorus, the Mixed Ensemble and the Girls Ensemble.The concert will feature many traditional winter favorites, including “Sleigh Ride,” “Ukrainian Bell Carol” and classical excerpts by Vivaldi, Bach and Handel. The Tornado Big Band will host its annual holiday dance Dec. 11 at the American Legion in Lyndora.The band, made up of students from the Senior, Intermediate and Junior High Schools of the Butler School District, performs jazz, Latin, rock and classic big band songs.The group is led by music educator and founder Jeff Kroner.Call 724-287-8728 or 724-287-8364.
