A former Butler County commissioner is in the running to sit on the board again.

Bill McCarrier, 71, of Butler Township today announced his candidacy for the office he held from 1996 through 1999.

McCarrier said his business background and volunteerism with numerous organizations qualify him for the post.

“My main goal is to bring jobs to Butler County to cut down on unemployment,” he said.

McCarrier is a trustee of Butler County Community College and the secretary for the Community Development Corporation of Butler County.

He founded the Interstate Pipe & Supply Co., which has five branches in and outside the county.
