Heavy rains causing flooding throughout county
Two days of rain has swollen creeks and flooded roads and basement around the county this morning.
Volunteer firefighters in at least a dozen municipalities were out overnight helping residents with flooded basements.
Several roads were closed because they were under water or had dangerous amounts of standing water on them. Renfrew Road in Penn Township was particularly hard hit as was Renfrew itself, where a car was spotted partially submerged on one of the streets. Firefighters in Harmony also pumped out upward of 15 basements overnight.
The weather station at Butler Junior High School showed that 3.7 inches of rain had fallen in the 24-hour period ending at 6:30 a.m. today.
The poor weather and road conditions caused a two-hour delay for students in the Butler School District.
