My need to vent
This morning's news carried a report of the disabled cruise ship arriving in a California port and of course some first person interviews. The one that stood out for me was the mother tearfully welcoming her daughter from such a horrible ordeal. After all, for three whole days there was no hot food and no warm showers. Toilets could not be flushed for fourteen hours I believe they said. Poor baby! My first thought was: "you pathetic individual." A day after Veterans Day (Remembrance Day in Canada) and you think your daughter had it tough. A lot of mother's daughters are in Afghanistan and/or Iraq and they don't always have hot food and warm showers and some came home in a box.
Heaven forbid this woman's daughter should have to experience some inconvenience and a few days difficulty. Give me a break!
