ATLANTA Slippery Rock High graduate and Vanderbilt University senior guard Jence Rhoads is one of 50 women's basketball players on the 2010-11 Naismith preseason watch list.

The list was compiled by the Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of Selectors. The list will be trimmed to 30 players in late February, then to four finalists for the Naismith Trophy in March.

Rhoads averaged 13.8 points per game last season.

SLIPPERY ROCK Slippery Rock University men's soccer players Greg Blum, Tom Pool and Mitch Walters were named to the All-PSAC first team.Blum had a 1.17 goals-against average and an .802 save percentage as The Rock goalkeeper. Pool, a defender, was part of a Rock defense that never allowed more than one goal in a game with him on the field.Walters, a midfielder, had four goals and two assists.Three Rock women's soccer players, Danielle Turner, Allison Hindley and Emer Flatley, earned second-team All-PSAC nods while Kara Mullins and Rachel Knapp received third-team honors.Turner had four goals and five assists. Hindley had three goals and five assists. Flatley, a defender, helped The Rock allow just 0.81 goals per game.

The Mars High boys and girls soccer teams will continue PIAA Class AA play Saturday.The Planets boys take on Palmyra at 3 p.m. in Hollidaysburg. The girls face Bradford at 1 p.m. in DuBois.

SLIPPERY ROCK Danielle Garroutte, a 6-foot forward from Northwest High in Germantown, Md., signed a letter of intent with Slippery Rock University for the 2011-12 season.Garroutte averaged 4.5 points and 3.6 rebounds last season. She is averaging 10 points and 10 rebounds per game in Northwest's fall league.
