HARRISBURG A group of Democratic state representatives wants its leaders to call the chamber back to vote on bills before the two-year legislative session expires at the end of the month.

Thirty House Democrats attended a news conference Monday at which they expressed frustration over bills that will die if they aren’t passed along to the desk of Gov. Ed Rendell before Dec. 1.

Members blame the decision on Democratic House Speaker Keith McCall, Majority Leader Todd Eachus and Appropriations Chairman Dwight Evans.

McCall announced last week the House won’t be returning, and Eachus and Evans have said the reason is their opposition to a Senate-passed public-pension bill that they consider unconstitutional.

House Democrats also held a closed-door caucus on the topic, but none of the three leaders attended it.
