SRU cross country takes 4th in PSAC
Freshman Travis Arrogono finished in 21st place to help lead the Slippery Rock University men's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the PSAC championship meet Saturday.
The Rock finished behind winner Shippensburg as well as Lock Haven, and Edinboro.
Arrogono ran a time of 27 minutes, 21 seconds.
Seneca Valley graduate Eric Geddis was 28th with a time of 27:35.
In the women's race, Jenn Harpp placed fourth to help The Rock to a third-place finish behind Shippensburg and Edinboro.
Kaylee Smith had 11 kills and 14 digs as the Slippery Rock University volleyball team closed the season with a 3-1 loss to Gannon Saturday.The Rock (8-2) will return 16 players next season.
Lisa Belcastro stopped a season-high 15 shots in goal for the Slippery Rock University field hockey team, but The Rock fell to East Stroudsburg 1-0 Sunday.It was the sixth time this season Belcastro had 10 or more saves for SRU (5-13).
The Grove City College football team forced four turnovers and recorded three sack in a 21-7 home win over Bethany College Saturday.Freshman quarterback Brian Pell tossed a touchdown pass to Will McCoy to tie the score at 7-7 late in the second quarter.The Wolverines (4-5, 2-4) added two second half touchdowns a 31-yard touchdown pass from Pell to Luke O’Hara and a 1-yard TD run by Blaine Miller.Middle linebacker Jason Ferguson had two interceptions for Grove City.
