Army, Rotary host children's event
The Salvation Army is teaming up this year with the Butler A.M. Rotary Club to offer a special holiday celebration for children next month.
Called The Best Christmas Ever, the second annual event is set for 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Salvation Army at 313 W. Cunningham St.
The event will include carnival games, snacks and a visit from Santa Claus.
According to Capt. Henry Thibault of the Salvation Army, the event is open to all children. It was started last year to ensure children in need still have a festive holiday season.
"A lot of kids we see, it's hard to go sit on Santa's lap for $10 and get a picture," Thibault said.
"Some kids are having the best Christmas ever by having a Nintendo, and some kids are having the best Christmas ever by getting one little toy and dinner on the plate."
The Best Christmas Ever will occur concurrently with a food drive in Diamond Park.
