HARRISBURG -- Pennsylvania's state government revenue woes are still a problem, as the state collected $57 million less than expected in October.

Revenue figures released Monday show the state's general fund collections 3.2 percent below projections. For the year, the state is only slightly above estimates.

October's largest shortfall is in the personal income tax category, which was $44 million below expectations.

For the year, the state has collected $7.6 billion, just $19 million more than had been projected. The state budget is about $28 billion.

Pennsylvania's fiscal year runs from July through June.

HARRISBURG -- Elections officials say 8.5 million Pennsylvanians are registered to vote in today's statewide election. That's down from the record of 8.8 million, set two years ago.The Department of State said Monday there are 4.3 million registered Democrats, 3.1 million Republicans and barely 1 million in all other categories.Since the start of the year, 150,000 new Democrats have registered, along with 104,000 new Republicans.The largest age group consists of voters between the ages of 45 and 54. There are 1.7 million of those voters.The state's voting age population is estimated at 9.8 million.
