PITTSBURGH — Officials in Western Pennsylvania say three jail guards have been suspended without pay pending the outcome of an investigation into an alleged beating of an inmate last month.

Ramon Rustin, warden of the Allegheny County Jail, says two correctional officers were suspended Sunday and a third was suspended Monday as part of the probe into injuries to 24-year-old David Kipp.

Kipp had numerous facial injuries during a brief court appearance last month.
