I would totally agree with your post Jim, however most of my friends and their families trick or treat in neighborhoods where they don't even know people simply for the fact that occasionally somebody got a full sized candy bar instead of penny candy. I've even known people to

go to 2 or 3 different townships even on different nights to collect massive amounts of candy. Done in a responsible way I know this can be a very fun activity and easy way to access free treats for your children. I'm not crazed, overly paranoid or any of those things. I just think it's rather peculiar that in a community as small as Butler, years ago when I was a child growing up here we took our candy to get xrayed for free at the hospital and were told to never use tattoos, etc that were given out for fear of someone drugging us with some unseen substance. Now there are no thoughts of that sort of craziness. I just think we need to provide safe alternatives for children whose

parents don't agree with their children accepting candy or otherwise from strangers. For those that choose to do so, it's their business and I believe they should be able to make that choice. I don't think it's fair to call me paranoid because I'm a responsible parent who cares for

the safety and welfare of my children though.
