WATERFORD, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police are searching a cornfield in a rural area in Erie County for a man who was involved in an earlier standoff with police.

Police were called to a home near Waterford at 1:40 a.m. today and roads in the area were blocked off. The Erie Times-News reports that police said around 8:30 a.m. that the man had left the house possibly on a dirt bike and could be armed.

Police did not immediately comment on what led to the standoff.

Waterford is about 10 miles south of Erie.
