OK, none of us like new or higher taxes. By now it is well known that there will be no cost of living increase for those individuals receiving Social Security checks. So if you pay more for certain items now than you did last year, has your cost of living gone up? What about when you pay the same as last year but get less? Surely everyone by now knows that you do not get sixteen ounces (one pound) in a can of coffee.

Actually it is eleven point three ounces. Remember the freeze in Florida that destroyed much of the citrus crop and we were reminded that citrus products would likely cost more? Check your orange juice carton boys and girls. The name brands have kept their prices about the same but you do not get a half gallon (64 oz). Only 58 ounces in a carton of Dole or Tropicana. And what used to be a half gallon of ice cream is now

1.5 quarts. Same price though. And let us not forget toilet paper, about an inch narrower than it used to be.

I’ll not be surprised to soon find ten eggs in a carton. Cost of living up? What say you?
