Walter Revere Fowler, 90, of Slippery Rock died Wednesday at his home.

Born Feb. 22, 1920, in DuBois, he was the son of William W. and Delva R. Fowler.

Mr. Fowler owned and operated the Grove City Limestone Co. and the Conneaut Lake Sand & Gravel Co. from 1960 to 1980. He co-founded Slippery Rock Hardware in 1972.

He was a 1949 graduate of Penn State University, and he served in the U.S. Army in the 20th Armored Division in Germany during World War II. Mr. Fowler served three terms as chairman of the Slippery Rock Municipal Authority, and he also was a former member of Slippery Rock borough council and school boards.

He is survived by a daughter, Chris Fowler (Peter Seiler) of Miami, Fla.; two sons, Eric J. Fowler (Marylou) and Troy W. Fowler (Susan); and grandsons, Cabot and Vance, all of Slippery Rock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mangold Fowler, who he married Aug. 2, 1947, and a brother.
