Sally Cupps Briggs
Sally Irene Cupps Briggs, a Butler native and longtime resident, died Sept. 5 at a hospital outside Austin, Texas. She was 70.
Mrs. Briggs was born in the winter of 1939 and was the daughter of the late Frank and Stella Cupps.
She attended the West End School and graduated from Butler High School in 1957.
She was employed by the Peoples Telephone Co., where she met her husband, Dale V. Briggs Jr. The couple wed on Nov. 19, 1966, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. They later moved to Alabama and then to Texas.
Mrs. Briggs retired from the Department of Health and Human Services in Waco, Texas, and moved to Austin.
She enjoyed reading, painting, embroidery, bingo and playing on her computer.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her sisters, Dorothy Baldauf and Margaret Arner.
Survivors are a daughter, Rebecca Taylor of Austin; a son, Dale V. Briggs III of Austin; a brother, Richard Cupps of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
