Injuries reported in county line crash

FRANKLIN TWP, Beaver County — Several people were hurt early this morning in a two-car crash near the Beaver-Butler County line, authorities said.

The collision at Route 288 and Old Furnace Road — about 500 feet west of Zelienople — happened just before 4:30 a.m.

Details of the crash were not immediately available; however, as many as six people were injured.

At least one person was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital, according to emergency service officials; others injured were taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry.

Franklin Township police, who are investigating the crash, did not release any information this morning.

The Franklin Township and Zelienople volunteer fire departments helped get the injured out of their cars and assisted police with traffic control.
