Jefferson Twp. OKs racetrack
JEFFERSON TWP — After more than a year of hitting speed bumps, a township man's plan to build a racetrack on Neupert Road has been approved.
Before a crowd of nearly 100 people, the township supervisors on Monday night unanimously approved Brett Neupert's quarter-mile micro-sprint racetrack with conditions.
Before breaking ground, he must meet those conditions, which include obtaining a National Pollutant Discharge System permit because the property is in the Buffalo Creek watershed.
Neupert said he doesn't anticipate any problems meeting the criteria he needs to get a building permit.
He expressed relief after the board made its decision.
"It's been such a long time coming," he said.
Evelyn Gross, chairwoman of the township planning commission, reiterated the approval process of the NPDS permit could take up to a year.
