Lois A. Best
Lois A. Best, 77, of West Prairie Street Extension, Harrisville, died at 12:08 p.m. Saturday at her home. She had been a resident of the area since 1967.
Born in Sligo, May 10, 1933, she was the daughter of Grover Shoup and Lettie (Slagle) Shoup.
A 1951 graduate of Sligo High School, she was a waitress for many restaurants in Barkeyville, and she also was a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Best Lawn and Garden and Hydraulic Hose of Harrisville.
She was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church.
She loved to cook and spend time with her family, and she loved her cats.
She was married to Irwin E. "Gene" Best on May 1, 1956. He survives along with two daughters, Vicky L. Shaw of Mercer and Vera L. Allen and her husband, Earl, of Slippery Rock; a grandson, Jason Allen and his wife Nicole, of Slippery Rock; two great-grandsons, Ezra Allen and Evan Allen; and a sister, Isabelle Larmer of Sligo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Lou Lantelme and Virginia Wiser; and a brother, Keith Shoup.
