Riley

James W. Riley of Butler passed away at 11:06 a.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Cambridge, Ohio, the son of the late Edward J. Riley and the late Martha (Wylie) Riley.

Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force in World War II, where he was a decorated tail gunner with 17 missions over Japan.

He started his teaching career in the East McKeesport High School, where he was the basketball and football coach. He then came to Butler High School as a basketball coach and taught social studies and American history, retiring after his 42-year career.

He also enjoyed golfing.

Surviving are his wife, Bonnie (Wingfield) Riley, who he married Aug. 14, 1993; a daughter; three grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by his son, James W. Riley Jr., and a sister.
