Paula L. Morton, 66, of West Sunbury went to be with her Lord after a lengthy battle with pancreatitis at 9:55 p.m. Thursday at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

She was born July 29, 1944, in Butler, the daughter of the late Paul Detmore Sankey and the late Virginia McWilliams Sankey.

Paula was a member of the West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church, where she was a trustee and was an active member of the Women's Missionary Society. She was a longtime member of the Jolly Girls Bowling League.

She was a teacher's aide for 30 years for special needs children in the Moniteau and Butler school districts.

She enjoyed yard work, camping, bicycling and working with her church family, especially the mission trips to Slidell, La., helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas R. Morton, who she married Dec. 29, 1979; her daughter, Karen (Don) Ramsey of McKees Rocks; two sons, David (Heather) Hauser and T. Ryan (Cindy) Morton, all of Butler; four grandchildren, Zach, Lauren, Ethan and Brynn; two sisters, Donna (Richard) Madison, and Sharon (Robert) Ordy, all of Butler; a brother, David Sankey of Edinboro; two aunts, Helen Sefton of Butler and Helen Sankey of West Sunbury; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a great-nephew.

<B>MORTON —</B> Friends of Paula L. Morton, who died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, will be received from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church, 215 E. Church St., West Sunbury. A celebration of life will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Bill King officiating. Burial was private.Arrangements were made by the <B>WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME,</B> 132 Main St., West Sunbury.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Women's Missionary Society of the West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church, 215 E. Church St., West Sunbury, PA 16061.
