FRANKLIN TWP — It's a sad day for the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department.

One of its members lost his mobile home in a fire early this morning and another member suffered a possible heart attack fighting the blaze on Route 528, authorities said.

"I spoke to him, and he seems good," Prospect Fire Chief Frank Wilson said of his injured colleague. "He's going to be all right."

Wilson declined to identify the injured firefighter, who was admitted at Butler Memorial Hospital, because the department had not yet notified his family.

The department was called about 1:20 a.m. to the fire in the 2100 block of Route 528, also known as Prospect Road.

It was at the home of Scott Hainley, a lieutenant at the Prospect fire department.

Hainley, his wife and 15-year-old son were sleeping when they were awakened by the fire that apparently started in the living room area of the 14-foot-by-70-foot trailer.

The fire was spreading fast and the family had to flee quickly, Wilson said. They were not injured.

Damage is estimated at $40,000 to the home and contents. Officials said the property is insured.

About 30 firefighters from six companies battled the blaze.

A Butler Ambulance Service crew took the injured firefighter, who is in his late 40s or early 50s, to the hospital.

"He was having chest pains," Wilson said, "and he had the symptoms of a possible heart attack."

Wilson drove to the hospital to check on his colleague after the fire was out about 4 a.m.
