Beryle M. McCollough Keene Edwards

Beryle M. McCollough Keene Edwards, 94, of Chicora, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday at Chicora Medical Center.

She was born in Chicora, Aug. 19, 1916, the daughter of the late Oliver Merrill McCollough and the late Hannah Elizabeth Garing McCollough.

She graduated from Butler Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1937 and practiced as a registered nurse in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. For 30 years she worked in the medical offices of Drs. Richard and George Staehle in South Orange, N.J.

She was a founding member of the South Orange Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Following her retirement in 1984, she returned to Chicora. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chicora, serving in many capacities, especially enjoying the fellowship of the quilting group.

She is survived by a son, Charles A. Keene and his wife, Anne, of Bellevue Neb.; two granddaughters, Alice F. Keene of Abingdon, Md., and Clair L. Keene of Pleasant Gap; a brother, Stanley A. McCollough and his wife, Patricia, of Renfrew; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her first husband, Albert W. Keene, died in March 1984. She then married Harry L. Edwards, who died in June 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Ivan G., Alfred H., Edward C., S. Ward and Lester E. McCollough; and a sister, Ethel M. Lynskey.

<B>EDWARDS — </B>There will be no visitation or viewing for Beryle M. McCollough Keene Edwards, who died Friday, Sept. 3, 2010. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
