ERIE — A woman accused of masterminding a bank robbery plot that ended with a pizza deliveryman being killed by a bomb locked around his neck will be in court today to ask a judge to suppress evidence in the case.

Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong, 61, is scheduled to go on trial Oct. 12. She had sought to move the trial out of Erie, citing intense publicity, but the judge ruled that she generated much of the publicity herself.

Diehl-Armstrong has said she had no role in the plot that ended in the bombing death of Brian Wells on Aug. 28, 2003. She says she is being framed. The Erie Times-News says a pretrial report indicates that the defense might be planning to argue that mental illness rendered her unable to participate in such a plot.
