PITTSBURGH — A Pennsylvania company has been awarded a $4.5 million contract to build the entrance road to the Flight 93 memorial under construction near Shanksville.

The National Park Service announced the contract with New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co. on Thursday. The company will build a 2.3-mile road to connect Route 30 to Ring Road, which is adjacent to the memorial.

The National Park Service says the work is expected to be finished by July 2011, in time for the 10th anniversary of the crash. Flight 93 went down in the rural field after hijackers took over the plane on Sept. 11, 2001.

ERIE — Police say a 14-year-old boy used feces to write the word "hell" on the door of an Erie-area church and urinated in the church's foyer.Lawrence Park police have been investigating a report that someone defecated in front of the Bread of Heaven Tabernacle of Praise in April, and urinated inside. Police say they got tips that led them to the boy after they publicized another act of vandalism Monday night, in which the word "hell" was found on the church's door.Police tell the Erie Times-News that the boy was interviewed in the presence of a parent and confessed to both incidents. Police are not identifying the boy because he's being charged through Erie County Juvenile Court system.

EASTON, Pa. — Authorities say a man has been arrested in the attempted abduction of a Lafayette College student in a dormitory parking lot.The Morning Call of Allentown reports police say 39-year-old Duane Connelly was arrested after a two-hour manhunt that started around 11:35 p.m. Wednesday.Authorities say Connelly, whose last known address was Phillipsburg, was arrested after police spotted him on an island in the Delaware River.Police say he will be charged in the Sept. 26 attempted robbery and abduction, as well as other weekend robberies.

EAST STROUDSBURG, — A student is in custody following a series of fires that forced the evacuation of a dorm at East Stroudsburg University in northeastern Pennsylvania three times in the last 10 days.Police did not identify the suspect, but told the Stroudsburg Pocono Record it is a student who lives in the dorm.The latest fires were discovered in two trash cans inside Hawthorn Hall early Tuesday, the third such incident to prompt the dorm's evacuation this month.
