R. Edward Scott
Robert Edward Scott, 61, of Scott Road, Emlenton, Scrubgrass Township, Venango County, a longtime cemeterian and a retired Pennsylvania Department of Transportation employee, died Monday morning at the Cleveland Clinic.
Mr. Scott was born in Grove City on July 6, 1949. He was the son of Robert E. and Jennie L. McKee Scott.
He was a member of Six Points Church of God of Prophecy. He also attended Scrubgrass Stone Church, Fellowship Baptist Church and the Chapel on the Hill.
Mr. Scott was the president of the Scrubgrass Cemetery Association, as well as the caretaker and cemetery sexton for more than 30 years. He took great pride in the care and upkeep of the cemetery.
Mr. Scott was a longtime employee of PennDOT and retired Aug. 18, 2006, from the Highway Sign Department following 39 years.
He had a keen interest in numbers and dates as well as their meaning and significance. He had an excellent memory and enjoyed memorizing the birth dates of friends and relatives. He often greeted friends and acquaintances by their birth dates rather than their names.
A generous man, Mr. Scott aided many residents in their time of need.
Mr. Scott is survived by two brothers, John O. Scott and his wife, Janice, of Jamestown, N.Y., and Glenn M. Scott of Newport News, Va.; a sister, Rita S. Weisenfluh and her husband, Donald, of Kennerdell; two aunts, Myrna Sisco of Hilliards and Icle Scott of Winter Haven, Fla.; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Percy Scott; and a sister, Alberta Jean Scott.
