Schilling

J. Albert Schilling, 101, of Hollywood, Fla., died June 22 from complications related to a stroke.

Albert was a longtime resident of Dover, Ohio, where for nearly 50 years he ran his own advertising service with newspaper accounts in small towns throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

During World War II, Albert served in the U.S. Army, supporting training installations in the mid-Atlantic.

He was born April 11, 1909, near Youngstown, Ohio, to Joseph M. and Michalena Schilling.

He married Faye Willett Digman from West Virginia in 1936. She passed away in 1989. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Hank of Chula Vista, Calif., Barney of Erie and Ed Schilling of Euclid, Ohio; and two stepdaughters, Helen L. Robinson of Newcomerstown, Ohio, and Gladys Y. Morris of Dover, Ohio.

Albert is survived by his one sister, Millie Hill of Cochranton, Crawford County; two stepgrandsons, W. Benjamin Isenberg II of Canton, Ohio, and Joe (Debra) Isenberg of Eugene, Ore.; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

Albert enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle with family and friends. For the past 10 years Albert played competitive pinochle as part of the weekly activities at the senior centers in Hollywood and Sunrise, Fla. Albert loved the ocean and was an avid swimmer into his 90s.

He requested his ashes be scattered in the Atlantic Ocean.
