Dorothea Louise Gibson Papa, 91, of Emlenton and St. Petersburg, Fla., passed away in her home in St. Petersburg on Monday.

Born June 11, 1919, in Eau Claire, she was the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Kingsley Gibson and William Clyde Gibson.

After completing high school, she graduated from The Butler Business College and was later employed by the U.S. government in Washington, D.C.

She was married in Atlanta, Ga., to Col. Anthony E. Papa, U.S. Army, in 1942. During her husband's long and decorated military career, she lived in various countries throughout the world.

Dorothea had a love for traveling and a passionate fondness for animals.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Gwendolyn Middleton of Emlenton and Beatrice Vorous of Sarasota, Fla.

Surviving are nieces, Bonnie J. Jackson of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Gwen C. Goodwill of Brookville, Pa.; and a nephew, David G. Middleton of Emlenton.

<B>PAPA</B> — Funeral services for Dorothea Louise Gibson Papa, who died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, will be private. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.Arrangements are being handled by the <B>Anderson McQueen Family Tribute Center, </B>St. Petersburg, Fla<B>.</B>
