Richard Lee "Dick" Michael, 59, of West Sunbury Road, West Sunbury, formerly of Chicora, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Saturday at the home of Maria Sweeney of Cranberry Township.

He was born in Butler, June 26, 1950, a son of Arthur L. Michael and Jean Hiles Michael of Chicora.

He was a member of the Fairview United Presbyterian Church, where he had been a deacon.

He was an attentive and good father, son and brother and was always interested in his children and grandchildren and was expecting the birth of a grandchild soon.

He was a member of the 1969 graduating class of Karns City High School.

Following high school graduation, he proudly served as a sergeant with the U.S. Air Force stationed in Thailand. He was on active duty with the U.S. Air Force from 1969 until 1974.

He was a member of the West Sunbury American Legion Post 243, the Patriot Guard Riders of Western Pennsylvania and the Butler County American Legion Riders Post 117 since 2006. He had served Post 117 as president and vice president, initiated the first World War II veterans' bus trip from Butler to Washington D.C., and was active in all aspects of the organization.

He was employed at Sonneborne Corp. in Petrolia, where currently he worked in the laboratory. He had been employed there for 36 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Ashley Marie Michael and Amber Rachelle Michael, both of West Sunbury; his parents, Arthur L. and Jean Hiles Michael, both of Chicora; a brother, Dennis D. Michael and his wife, Kathleen, of Beaver Falls; a sister, Carla J. Flick of Chicora Road, Butler; his companion of three years, Maria Sweeney of Cranberry; five nephews; and one niece.

<B>MICHAEL</B> — Friends of Richard Lee "Dick" Michael, who died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home </B>in Petrolia and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Fairview United Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will at the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Scott Bunting, church pastor, officiating.
