Patricia Eileen "Pattie" Palmer Duerring, 58, of Clay Township died Thursday at CrossRoads at Beaver Creek Assisted Living in Calcutta, Ohio, after a five-and-half year battle with breast cancer.

Born March 5, 1952, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter and stepdaughter of Yvonne Palmer Beight and Fred Beight of Zelienople and the late James Robert Palmer.

Pattie was a 1970 graduate of Riverside High School and attended Beaver County Community College, where she received her associate degree in commercial art. In 1996, she earned her bachelor's in photography from the Pittsburgh Art Institute.

She worked for her father's company, Fombell Fabricating & Welding Inc. as the accounts payable/receivable analyst, was a graphics design sales representative for Pittsburgh Atlas and was a group event sales representative for Windwood Park Inc.

Her last employment was as an investigator with U.S. Investigation Services in Boyers.

She volunteered as an aide in the Alzheimer's unit at St. John's Specialty Care Center in Mars.

Pattie was a member of the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church and was an avid gardener and floral designer.

In addition to her mother and stepfather, she is survived by her husband, Burton C. Duerring of Butler; three stepchildren, Burton Jr. and Nancy Duerring of Cranberry Township, Christine Duerring of Warwick, Mass., and Scott and Mari Duerring of Lakeville, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Jason, Carl and Christen Duerring, Taylor Loubris, Nikolas, Corina, Amanda, Brianna and Elena Lindke; five sisters, Deidra Mulroy of Citrus Springs, Fla., Susan Law of Bradfordwoods, Allegheny County, Lori Colao of Morrisville, Bucks County, Loni Bauer of St. Augustine, Fla., and Sheri Buch of Calcutta, Ohio; a brother, Dennis Palmer of Ellwood City; 13 nieces and nephews, Kara, Erin, and Ryan Mulroy, Brad Law, Sarah Houk, Morgan Richards, Ashley Hudson, James and Landon Colao, Taylor Bauer, and Robert, Olivia and Michaela Buch; four great-nieces and nephews, Ethan, Alexis and Adeline Mulroy and Hunter Houk.

<B>DUERRING — </B>Friends of Patricia Eileen "Pattie" Palmer Duerring, who died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>GLENN-KILDO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES</B>, 219 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church, 123 N.
