-I once worked for a local businessman and he asked me who I voted for (I told him but also told him it was illegal for him to ask me that, but I had nothing to hide). He told me he ought to fire me because of who I voted for. I told him if he did, I would have him in front of labor relations so fast his head wouldn't have time to turn and if he didn't want to actually know he shouldn't have asked. He was okay from that point on. I am very poignant on things when I am ask and very frontforward so if someone doesn't want to know they shouldn't ask.
On another angle, a different employer (prev. one went out of business) had a series of homes and when I mentioned to the owner who was also my boss about the care my aunt was receiving (not being bathed, hair was disgusting, her false teeth were not in, etc.), I was told the problem would be taken care of. It was - I was laid off due to downsizing within 2 months.....only to see an ad in the paper for my old position about 6 months later. Nobody messes with my family when it comes to their health and general well being.
