Paul W. "Sonny" Schmidt Jr., 51, of Sarver passed away Friday at the H.J. Heinz Community Living Center, Aspinwall.

Born March 13, 1959, in Natrona Heights, he was the son of Paul W. Schmidt Sr. and Vivian (Gamble) Schmidt.

Sonny graduated from Freeport High School. After 24 years, he retired from the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sarver and the planning commission for Buffalo Township. He also was a Mason.

Sonny enjoyed gardening, camping, riding four-wheelers with his son, fishing and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his loving wife, Kathy (Chadwell) Schmidt, whom he married Oct. 23, 1982; his son, Paul W. Schmidt III of Sarver; his parents, Paul and Vivian of Sarver; his sister, Debra (Patrick) Schmidt Rager of Cabot; his brother, James D. Schmidt of Sarver; and five nieces and nephews.

<B>SCHMIDT</B> — Friends of Paul W. "Sonny" Schmidt Jr., who died Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Emery Barnett of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating.
