HERMAN — The Herman Volunteer Fire Company is conducting its annual fund drive.

Send donations to the Herman Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 87, Herman PA 16039.

The Herman VFC does all its soliciting of funds by mail.

BUTLER TWP — The Butler Golden Tornado marching band will sponsor a pie festival at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at Butler High School's Art Bernardi Stadium. The band will perform its 2010 pregame and halftime shows and the varsity football team and cheerleaders will be introduced.The $5 tickets include pie, ice cream and a beverage. Children 4 and under are free. Tickets are available from band members or at the gate.

MARS — The Mars Library, 107 Grand Ave., will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 18 to celebrate the addition of the Agnes Hudac Youth Room and Mars National Bank Community Hall. Local author C. William Davis III will also talk and hold a book signing.For information, call the library at 724-625-9048.

LYNDORA — The Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave., will sponsor a bus trip Oct. 6 to the Mountaineer Casino. Sign up by Sept. 20. Balance for the $26 trip is due Sept. 39. Sign up at the center or call 724-287-0021.

WEST SUNBURY — A casino bus trip to Seneca Allegheny will be held Sept. 25 to benefit Moniteau girls softball. The $45 trip includes transportation with $35 back in slot dollars. The bus leaves Moniteau High School at 7:30 a.m. and returns at 10 p.m. For information, call Debbie at 724-290-2525.

GIBSONIA — Vendor spaces are available for the St. Barnabas Charities' annual fashion gala set for Oct. 23 at the Kean Theatre at Washington Place, 5847 Meridian Road.For information, call 724-444-5521.

HARMONY — The Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer Street, will host a free presentation by Historic Harmony President John Ruch at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14 in Stewart Hall about mills operated by the Harmony Society and last summer's demolition of two Connoquenessing Creek dams.

JEFFERSON TWP — Registration is open until Sept. 27 for the upcoming semester of classes offered by the Concordia Institute for Lifelong Learning.Classes begin in October at Concordia Haven Apartments.
