Alvin E. Palmer
Alvin E. "Al" Palmer, 81, of Grove City died Sunday at Grove City Medical Center.
He was born in Springfield Township on Dec. 21, 1928.
Mr. Palmer was the son of the late Floyd Clarence Palmer and Grace Margaret Sowers Palmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn G. Jones, whom he married June 7, 1971. She died March 21, 2003.
Mr. Palmer retired in 1991 from Cooper Energy Services in Grove City, where he was a forklift operator in the storeroom for 32 years.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Mr. Palmer was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a 1946 graduate of Grove City High School and a member of the Grove City Eagles Club.
He is survived by four stepchildren, Sandra McFadden and her husband James of Jackson Center in Mercer County, Sally Martin and her husband Leonard of Cranberry Township, Sharon Kawecki and her husband John of Sandy Lake, and Richard Lightner of Grove City; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd W. Palmer, and a sister, Lorraine Vargo.
<B>PALMER — </B>Friends of Alvin E. Palmer, who died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. John "Jack" Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at the Clintonville Methodist Cemetery in Clintonville.
