Woman claims pharmacy gave her wrong drug

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh-area supermarket chain says it is working to rectify a situation after a woman had an allergic reaction after she claims the store's pharmacy gave her the wrong prescription drug.

Mary Cross of Pittsburgh says she was supposed to get the infertility drug Clomiphene but instead was given an antidepressant with a similar name, Clomipramine.

Cross says she called the pharmacy, which confirmed the mistake and she went to an emergency room where she was given medicines to keep her from going into anaphylactic shock.

A Giant Eagle spokesperson says the chain is taking the incident very seriously.
