Katherine L. "Kay" Thomas, 87, formerly of Fifth Avenue in Butler died Wednesday at the Lowrie House.

She was born July 27, 1923, in Butler, a daughter of the late Sam and Helen Namie Isaac.

Kay was a homemaker and a member of the St. Anthony Orthodox Church in Butler.

She had formerly worked as a sales clerk at Peter's Chocolates Candy Co. in Butler for more than 15 years.

Kay was a founding member of St. Anthony's Church and was also a member of the board of directors at St. Anthony's. She also was a member of the church choir and a member of the ladies' guild. She was active in exercise classes and card clubs at her church and recently was an active member of the Silver Sneakers exercise group at the Tanglewood Center.

Her husband, Albert C. "Abby" Thomas, whom she married May 18, 1944, preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 2003.

Surviving are two brothers, Norman Isaac of Texas and William Isaac of Florida; and two sisters, Mrs. Frances Crytzer and Mrs. Jane Best, both of Butler. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.

A brother and a sister preceded her in death.

<B>THOMAS </B>— Friends of Katherine L. "Kay" Thomas, who died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. in Butler. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from St. Anthony Antiochian Orthodox Church in Butler with Father Gregory Long, pastor, officiating.
