SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University senior center Brandon Fusco and kicking specialist C.J. Bahr have been named Preseason All-America by D2PRODAY.COM.

Fusco, a Seneca Valley graduate, received his fourth Preseason All-America honor and is a first-team selection.

Bahr, who has compiled 25 field goals, 112 PATs and 187 points at The Rock, is a third-team selection.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Michelle Wie has had the second hole-in-one of her professional career on the way to a 7-under 65 and a three-shot lead after the first round of the CN Canadian Women's Open.The 6-foot-tall Wie says she's notched eight holes-in-one in her career, but only one other as a pro, in her rookie season at last year's LPGA Championship. This on came on the 190-yard, par-3 11th hole.

NEW YORK — If Roger Federer is going to reach a seventh consecutive U.S. Open title match, he might need to get past the man who ended his Grand Slam semifinal streak.Five-time U.S. Open champion Federer was given a possible quarterfinal against two-time French Open runner-up Robin Soderling in the draw.The other men's matchups in the quarterfinals could be No. 1-seeded Rafael Nadal against No. 8 Fernando Verdasco, two-time major finalist Andy Murray against Wimbledon runner-up Tomas Berdych, and No. 3 Novak Djokovic against No. 6 Nikolay Davydenko or No. 9 Andy Roddick.

TORONTO — A top official of the NHL Players' Association denied reports that Donald Fehr, the former leader of baseball's players' union, accepted an offer to take the top job at the NHLPA.Fehr, 62, has been serving as an unpaid consultant since November.
