When she is not digging up dinosaurs, Terri Helfer of Penn Township works as an employee relations specialist for Lifesteps. She is a certified equestrian instructor and enjoys gourmet cooking.

Her son, Nick, is a seventh grader in the South Butler School District, where he plays in the percussion band. He also is a third-degree black belt in taekwondo, a music volunteer at Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Boy Scouts.

Their other outdoor activities include hiking, cycling and skiing.
